Eddie Murphy honored with the ‘Comedy Icon’ award
March 22nd, 2011 - 6:49 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattLos Angeles, Mar 22 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Comic actor Eddie Murphy has been named as the recipient of the “Comedy Icon” award this year. Murphy would receive the prize at the inaugural Comedy Awards organized by Comedy Central.
The event would take place on the 26th of March. Murphy’s role in comedy, sketch shows and television will be appreciated during the show.
The executive producer and executive vice president of event production at MTV Networks Entertainment Group, Casey Patterson, believe that Murphy deserves the award.
Patterson said that, “Eddie Murphy’s impact in the world of comedy is immeasurable. From the characters he created on ‘Saturday Night Live’, to his groundbreaking stand-up performances and unforgettable film roles, Murphy changed the game forever and we’re honored that he will be joining us for the first ever Comedy Awards.”
The awards would be aired on all the networks of MTV on the 10th of April. Several award presenters have been confirmed with The Daily Show’s Jon Stewart and 30 Rock star Tina Frey leading the list.
Eddie Murphy was nominated for Kid’s Choice award for his role in “Shrek Forever After.” He played the role of Donkey in the film.
