eddie-fisherSep 26, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The great singer Eddie Fisher passed away on Wednesday 22 September at the age of 82 in Berkeley, California as a result of deteriorating health compiled with the complications arising out of his hip surgery. He was known for his music and a scandalous life that was full of love affairs with different celebrities of his time. Eddie Fisher made his career through a lot of struggle by signing in local amateur contest and radio shows. He dropped out of high school to pursue his career in music and it was only in the late 1940’s that he started becoming a sensation in the music world.

His career saw diversity with a string of hit singles along with him getting in two television series and bookings in popular nightclubs and all went well for Eddie Fisher until his personal life took over his professional one. Meanwhile his career was almost stumbled by the rise of Elvis Presley and he only made his situation worse with continuous love affairs. He himself admitted in “Been there, Done that”, his autobiography that people remember him more in his relation with women than for his music. Nothing could be more sadder perhaps for a person.

His first marriage was to Debbie Reynolds and the second was to Carrie Fisher with their marriage falling apart in 1958 when he had an affair with Elizabeth Taylor who was the widow of his friend. As a saying goes “what goes around comes around” Elizabeth Taylor dumped him in 1964 after five years of marriage and married Richard Burton in the same year. Moreover this scandal cost him his second television series and ruined his career. Many more marriages and affairs followed with the last marriage being with Betty Lin who remained with him until her death in 2001.
