trJuly 1, (THAINDIAN NEWS) It was quite expected that ‘Eclipse’ the latest movie in the Twilight series will do rocking business at the box office, the average reviews notwithstanding. It seems that Summit Entertainment is laughing all its way to the bank as the movie has already set a new box office record on the first day of its release! The film has already grossed a whopping $30 million from the midnight screenings in the USA, as Summit reports. Therefore, it zooms ahead of the second film in the series, ‘New Moon’ which managed to gross $26.3million. ‘Eclipse’ has also broken the record set by ‘Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen in IMAX’ midnight collection category. The film was opened simultaneously at a record 4416 theaters in North America, the single biggest opening for any film in the history of the USA.

The critics are of the opinion that this is the best Twilight film in the series so far. The film starring two of the sizzling hot actors of Hollywood-Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson was made at the cost of a whopping $68 million. It is going to make its UK debut on July 9 and is likely to do roaring business there as well. The lead actors have drawn the praise from the viewers and Dakota Fanning is also winning accolades for her sterling vampire act in the film.

‘Eclipse’ may turn out as one of the biggest hits of 2010 both in global and domestic market as film experts are saying. It is also being speculated that in the coming weeks it will trounce the other new films at the box office.
