tr July 1 (THAINDIAN NEWS) “Twilight Fever” which can have a range of symptoms such as fear, intensity, need, excitement, or just plain blah-according to taste, is showing no signs of being vaccinated into extinction any time soon; in fact the newest film in the saga, Eclipse has grossed over $30 million dollars in it’s midnight showing, which took place in 4000 theaters across the United States on Tuesday.

The previous record holder for midnight showings was the prior part of the phenomenon known as ‘The Twilight Saga’, a film entitled, New Moon. That movie earned $26.3 million last November, just shy of the Eclipse gross, which makes the latter a new industry record holder.

For the entire first day, however, Eclipse earned a whopping $65 million, which crushed Toy Story 3’s earning of $8 million, but didn’t touch the staggering $72 million which the former Twilight Saga New Moon made in it’s first whole day.

Spiderman 2 still holds a great title however, after it earned $180 million during it’s six day weekend debut. Before yesterday’s showings, Transformers 2 held the record for opening on Wednesday gross, which was $62 million.

Eclipse is now playing at 4,416 locations. It is said to be a more mature story, which is a bit more realistic than it’s Twilight predecessors. Eclipse is the first movie to receive a summer opening.
