Aug 19, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Hollywood superstar Julia Roberts’s latest release “Eat, Pray, Love” has attracted the ire of Catholic leaders who have expressed their dissatisfaction with the Ryan Murphy directed flick that tracks the story of a woman who sets out on a journey all across the world after it dawns upon her that she is not getting want she wants out of her life. The movie which is the screen adaptation of American author Elizabeth Gilbert’s travel memoir of the same name, has left many Catholic leaders fuming for disregarding the importance of the faith. The movie also has Javier Bardem and James Franco in its cast.
The Washington based Catholic News Service has come up with a review of the Julia Roberts starer which is quite scornful to say the least. The review that has been delivered by the Catholic News Service criticizes the protagonist of “Eat, Pray, Love” especially during the ‘Pray’ section of the flick when the main character played by Julia Roberts turns to Hinduism for spiritual guidance rather than Catholicism when she is in Rome. The Catholic News Service further goes on to give the movie a L classification while also adding that people having full faith in Catholicism might find certain parts of the film rather troubling.
In the meanwhile, the fact that Julia Roberts recently took up Hinduism after spending time in India while filming “Eat, Pray, Love” hardly seems to help the matter in any way. The renowned “Pretty Woman” star, who was born in a Catholic family, has revealed her affiliations to Hinduism in a recent interview to a magazine.
