easySep 18, (THAINDIAN NEWS) This week a number of movies are releasing and each of them belong to different genres. Those who cant have enough of watching high school comedies can opt for the Emma Stone starer ‘Easy A’. The film basically re-tells the well known story from a fresh new perspective. Emma Stone breathes freshness in the protagonist and the screenplay is engaging enough to keep the viewers hooked to their seats till the end of the movie. The actress essays the role of Olive Penderghast a girl next door in a high school who creates a rumor abut her virginity by accident and this makes her famous or rather notorious in her school and everyone starts thinking of her as someone with debatable character.

The thing goes out of her control soon and the morality brigade and the guy she adores secretly add to the complications in the plot. The film makes a number of references to the teenage flicks starring John Hughes that were popular in the 1980s. The film also shows the fever of social networking and how it has affected the teenagers in recent times. However, a major thing have eluded the filmmakers and that is the teens of the present generation do not consider sex as a taboo or hushed up affair anymore.

The film is a loose adaptation of “The Scarlet Letter” by Nathaniel Hawthorne with modern twists added to the plot. At the box office it will have to fight with the Ben Affleck starer ‘The Town’ and ‘Devil’, written by M Night Shyamalan. However, the performance and comic timing of Emma Stone will please the majority of viewers.
