Dylan’s Christmas album royalties to go to charity
August 28th, 2009 - 5:15 pm ICT by ANILondon, Aug 28 (ANI): The royalties from Bob Dylan’s soon-to-be released Christmas songs album will go to charity, his recording company has announced.
The album titled Christmas in the Heart is the hitmaker’s first Christmas album and is slated for an October 13 release.
Columbia Records confirmed that the Feeding America charity would receive the US royalties from the album’s sale.
The organization, which helps needy people with food, hopes to feed 1.4 million people with the album’s proceeds.
The BBC quoted Dylan as saying: “It’s a tragedy that more than 35 million people in this country alone - 12 million of those, children - often go to bed hungry and wake up each morning unsure of where their next meal is coming from.
“I join the good people of Feeding America in the hope that our efforts can bring some food security to people in need during this holiday season.”
Columbia also announced that the International royalties would be given to charities and funds involved in similar pursuits in other countries.
Dylan’s latest studio album will include Here Comes Santa Claus, Must Be Santa, Winter Wonderland and Little Drummer Boy. (ANI)
