DWTS: Quick, Fast and Jiving
September 27th, 2011 - 2:29 pm ICT by Angela Kaye MasonSep 27 (THAINDIAN NEWS) ‘Dancing With the Stars kicked off last night with Tom Bergeron and Brooke Charvet as hosts, and Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli, and Carrie Ann Inaba as judges. Hope Solo and Maks Chmerkovskiy were the first to take the stage and did very well with a Jive for which they both wore soccer uniforms. Len felt the timing was a bit off, and both Bruno and Carrie felt they needed more practice. They received a 6 from both Bruno and Carrie and a 7 from Len.
Mark Ballas and Kristin Cavallari did a Quick Step which Bruno loved, Carrie Ann called it stunning and Len felt the dance did not look as good as Kristin did. Carrie Anne gave them an 8, and Len and Bruno both gave them 7s. David Arquette and Kym Johnson did another Jive which Carrie said was too loose. Len felt they did not have the technique, and Bruno suggested that David is just “still finding his way.” They were given three 6s.
Next on the floor was Elisabetta Canalis and Val Chmekovskiy to dance a Quick Step. Bruno felt that Elisabetta was back on track, but Len was not impressed. Carrie felt that she nailed the routine. They received a 7 from all three judges. Rob Kardashian and Cheryl Burke performed a jive which caused Carrie to state that Rob can dance better than his sister, Kim. Bruno and Len felt that he showed a lot of imporivement. They also received three 7s.
Carson Kressley and Anna Trebunskaya performed a Quick Step which Carrie called wobbly. Len was also a bit negative about the dance, and Bruno also felt it left much to be desired. They received three 6s. Derek Hough and Ricki Lake came with a Jive which was loved by the audience, but not so much by Len. Bruno thought she did better at the technique than anyone else had and Carrie thought it was the best Jive that had been performed last night. They received two 8s from Bruno and Carrie and a 7 from Len.
Chaz Bono and Lacey Schwimmer were on stage to dance the Quick Step. Chaz was having knee pain, which caused him to not perform as well as hoped. Bruno noted that the Quick Step was too slow. Carrie agreed, although she does realize Chaz is in pain. Len felt it was too slow as well. They received 6s from Bruno and Carrie and a 5 from Len. Chynna Phillips and Tony Dovalani came next with a Jive. Carrie loved it, but felt it was a bit safe. Len agreed and Bruno pointed out that you should never hold back on a Jive. They received three 7s.
Tristan MacManus and Nancy Grace performed a Quick Step which Len felt was refreshing. Bruno liked it as well, and Carrie felt they had greatly improved. They received a 6,7, and 8 from Carrie, Len, and Bruno respectively. Karina Smirnoff and JR Martinez performed the last Jive of the night. Bruno loved it, Carrie did as well, but Len called it a Lindy Hop. Bruno gave them an 8, while they received 7s from Len and Carrie.
