DWTS: Emotional Trip Down Memory Lane
October 5th, 2011 - 8:35 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattOct 4 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The dancers on ‘Dancing With the Stars’ were asked to choose a routine which would reveal something personal about themselves. The dances would be either ballroom or Latin routines. Ricki & Derek, Chynna & Tony, JR and Karina, David & Kym, Chaz & Lacey, and Hope & Maks performed the Rumba. Carson & Anna did the Tango, and Rob & Cheryl danced the Foxtrot. Nancy and Tristan would be preforming a Waltz, and Mark & Kristan performed the Samba.
Rob and Cheryl were up first with their Foxtrot. Rob told about the death of his dad back in 2003, and chose the song ‘Fly Me to the Moon’ by Frank Sinatra. The judges all loved it, and they received three 8’s from Carrie, Len, and Bruno, making their total score 24. The couple were named safe in the results show.
Chynna and Tony came next with a Rumba to a song which Chynna wrote in 1990, when she was suffering from abandonment issues about her father. Bruno thought it was “smoldering,” Carrie called it “stunning,” and Len loved it as well. They received an 8 from Carrie and 9s from the other two judges, giving them a total of 27. Chynna and Tony were also safe when the results show aired.
Chaz and Lacey danced the Rumba to a song which was written by Chaz’s father called ‘Laugh at Me’. He said that his most memorable year was this past one, with his change from a woman to a man, and being chosen for ‘Dancing With the Stars’. Carrie felt that it was not the best Chaz had done, but Len felt that it was. Bruno liked it. They received three 6s, which gave them a total of 18. Despite their low score, this couple was saved by the fans’ votes during the results show.
JR and Karina danced a Rumba as well, to the song ‘If You’re Reading This’ by Tim McGraw. JR said that his personal moment was when he came home from Iraq after being injured. His dance was to honor those who would never be coming home. Carrie called him a hero, Len felt that he was exceptional, and Bruno agreed with Carrie, that JR is a hero. They received a 9 from both Bruno and Carrie, and an 8 from Len, which gave them a total of 26. These guys were safe on the results show.
Nancy and Tristan danced the Waltz to ‘Moon River’ and Nancy shared the story of the birth of her daughter, Lucy, who was a twin. When Nancy went in labor went into labor, both she and Lucy were dying, but she managed to safely birth both babies. The first song which she sang to them was her wedding song.. “Moon River.” Len felt that it was emotional, but that Nancy’s posture was lacking. Bruno agreed, and Carrie liked it. They received three 7s which gives them a total of 21. The results show revealed that they were safe.
Ricki and Derek danced the Rumba to the song ‘Gravity’, which she says shares her feeling of the rough year which she had in 2010. She suffered a hard divorce, her house burned down, and was on rock bottom, until she met Christian, her finance. Bruno called it her best, Carrie said it was breathtaking, and Len called it terrific. They received three nines, giving them 27, tying for the highest score of the night. Derek and Ricki were named safe when the results were given.
Hope and Maks performed the Cha Cha Cha to ‘Tonight’ by Enrique Iglesias. She picked this year as her most inspirational, because it was the year she tried for the World Cup. Although she did not win, she learned a lot about life. Carrie said she needed work on her walk, Len called it her best yet, and Bruno loved it. They were given three 8s, giving them a total of 24. Hope and Maks were in the bottom three on the results show.
Carson and Anna performed the Tango ‘It’s My Life’ by No Doubt. The song was a representation of how Carson felt in 2003 when ‘Queer Eye for the Straight Guy’ came out and he was finally able to be happy being himself. Carrie loved it, Bruno called it “insanely brilliant” and Len said it was flamboyant. They received an 8 from both Carrie and Bruno and a 7 from Len, giving them a total of 23. They were in the bottom three when the results show aired last night.
David and Kym remembered the past year for David with a Rumba to the song ‘Ohh Child’. David told of how his marriage fell apart, and alcohol almost destroyed him. He said that his daughter was his reason for going on, and that was why he chose the song. Len said it was great, and Bruno loved it. Carrie liked it as well. They were given three 8’s and had a total of 24. These two were safe on results night.
Kristin and Mark danced the Samba to the song ‘Crazy Love’ by Beyonce. Bruno loved it, Carrie felt she did a good job, and Len was not too crazy about Beyonce but liked the dance. They received three 8s, for a total of 24. They were in to bottom three on results night.
After performances from Mary J Blige, and Chubby Checker the results were given. Kristin Cavallari is going home. Next week is Movie Week on ‘Dancing With the Stars’.
