July 15, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): Veteran American actor Dustin Hoffman will be seen on television with HBO’s new drama series titled ‘Luck’. HBO got lucky with ‘Luck’ as the actor has agreed to act in it.

Confirming the news, HBO added that ‘Luck’ is a dream series, which deals with the horse racing world, the gamblers, jockeys and the owners. Nick Nolte, Gary Stevens and Dennis Farina are the other cast members of the film.

On Wednesday, HBO said that the shooting for ‘Luck’, will start in Los Angeles this fall. The locations for the shoot include the Santa Anita Park racetrack.

David Milch has written the pilot episode, he is the creator of television shows like the ‘NYPD Blue’. Michael Mann of Public Enemies fame is directing the series. Carolyn Strauss along with Milch and Mann are the executive producers of the film.

HBO programming President Michael Lombardo, said, “We were astonished to see the pilot episode delivered by Michael Mann from the brilliant script of David Milch. We are really excited that our team led by Dustin Hoffman along with these two artists, will bring life to ‘Luck’.”

Hoffman will be seen as Ace Bernstein, who is an intelligent, intuitive and tough person. He has always been involved with the gambling and money laundering through a casino.”

It will be really exciting see an actor like Dustin Hoffman doing a TV series. Dustin has been famous for his versatile roles as antiheroes.

However, the date of airing of ‘Luck’ has not been disclosed by HBO yet.
