Dustin Hoffman making his directorial debut with ‘Quartet’

London, Sept 13 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Dustin Hoffman’s directorial debut is the production of the movie “Quartet”. The movie is currently being filmed in UK and features stars like Michael Gambon, Maggie Smith, Billy Connolly, Sheridan Smith, Tom Courtenay and Pauline Collins.

BBC Films, Decca and DCM Productions will foot the bill for the production of the set which is based on the stage play by Ronald Harwood. The movie follows the lives of some older people living in a home reserved for retired opera singers. The residents of the home were living harmoniously until a new resident came to the house and brought confusion between them.

Jamie Laurenson of BBC along with DCM Productions’ Christoph Daniel, Dario Suter and Marc Schmidheiny will be part of the executive production team. Hoffman and Decca’s Dickon Stainer will also be on that team. The stars on the set are among the best talents in Britain and the movie is expected to be a major hit.

The movie is the production of Headline Pictures and Finola Dwyer Productions. Distribution outlet HanWay has been awarded the right to distribute the production internationally.

Shooting of the movie will commence this week and is expected to be completed in nine weeks.
