August 7, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Director Raj Chakrabarti explains his latest Bengali movie Dui Prithibi as a journey from “Burdwan to Europe’. The movie starring renowned actors Jeet, Koel, and Dev, starts in Burdwan. The voyage then goes through Purulia, Birbhum, Bankura, Kolkata and at last ends in Europe.

The story is about the journey of two protagonists Rahul and Shibu played by Jeet and Dev respectively. The rich and flirt guy Rahul falls in love with Nandini, played by Koel. Nandini goes for a camp in Lalgarh and Rahul also moves out on a bike to find her. He meets Shibu on the way, who assures him to take to Lalgarh even though he is not aware of the place.

The director Raj says, “Dui Prithibi is all about the happenings during their course of journey. Starting from Burdwan, they travel through Purulia, Birbhum, Bankura, Kolkata and finally ends up in Europe”.

Raj jokingly says, “All the rich guys are named either Raj or Rahul and the insignificant people like me are called “Shibu’. My old friends call me by that name even today though I have been popular as Raj now”.

Sharing his experience of working with big names like Jeet, Dev, and Koel, Raj says, “A huge crowd used to gather immediately, whenever we decided to take shots on a comparatively deserted road. It made shooting almost impossible. Once, Dev had to request the crowd to disperse for a shot. While doing so, the actor fell into a manhole and got hurt”.

Some of the scenes in the movie were shot in Maoist prone areas. Speaking about that, the director informed, “While shooting in those areas, we did not experience any problem. We had even shot close to Ayodhya pahar in Purulia”.

Raj assures that the movie has nothing political in it but it is very much contemporary.
