The eighth season of the most popular reality show is back with a bang. The show, which was started on January 13, is being hosted by Ryan Seacrest. The American Idol has been a successful attempt at reaching out to the audience. The viewers are given the power to vote for the contestant that they want to see as the next singing sensation. Season by season, this show brings to us fresh new talent, lots of entertainment and plenty of surprises on the way.

Thousands of people audition for the show. But the judges choose the finest among them, and after careful analysis the competitors are narrowed down to a set of semifinalists. These semifinalists exhibit their singing talent week after week. After each performance the judges put forward their opinions, but the final decision is in the hands of the viewers. The viewers vote for their favorite contestants and the contestant with the least number of votes gets eliminated in the coming week.

This week the top 10 contestants have been announced. All waited anxiously for the results to be declared. Lot of anticipation in the air. Finally the results are revealed. Danny Gokey, Lil Rounds, Anoop Desai, Allison Iraheta, Michael Sarver, Scott Maclntyre, Megan Joy Corkrey, Matt Giraud, Kris Allen, Adam Lambert are the contestants declared safe this week. They are going to move on to the next round of competition. Meanwhile, Alexis Grace, the contestant eliminated, is left heartbroken. His American Idol journey comes to an end.
