Dr. Phil cancels show on BritneyJanuary 8th, 2008 - 5:21 pm ICT by admin
Washington , Jan 8 (ANI): Celebrity psychologist Dr. Phil McGraw has called off plans to dedicate a show to Britney Spears, calling the drama surrounding her “too intense.
McGraw announced on his website that he visited Britney in the hospital due to her familys insistence and has cancelled the show on the 26-year-old troubled star, for the time being.
“As was widely reported this weekend, at the request of concerned family members, I visited Britney Spears in the hospital. The details of that visit will, of course, remain private,” People quoted him, as saying in a message online.
He added: “We had planned to tape a Dr. Phil Now show today, focusing not on the tabloid side of Britney’s latest problems, but instead on the very serious issues surrounding this case. Clearly, it is not just Britney’s family struggling to find a way to protect adult children who cannot be ordered or compelled to seek help.
“Because the Spears situation is too intense at this time, and out of consideration to the family, I have made the decision not to move forward with the taping at this particular time. Britney and her family are in our prayers, and we ask that they be in yours.
McGraw had earlier appeared on CBS’s The Early Show claiming that Spears family was “very frustrated” that Britney wasn’t held for a longer period of time at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center where she was admitted last week.
Meanwhile, the Toxic star has claimed that she refused to speak to Dr. Phil when he arrived at his hospital room at the time of her discharge.
Britney reportedly never invited the celebrity therapist to visit and was surprised when he appeared at the Los Angeles ‘ Cedars-Sinai Medical Center .
In fact the singer allegedly walked out of the room when McGraw entered only to return afterwards and allowed him to question her for 15 minutes - not an hour as previously claimed by the doctor. (ANI)
