North Carolina, Aug 17 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Popular actor Robert Downey is reported to have injured an ankle on the set while acting in the third film of Iron Man superhero franchise. The injury of the celebrated actor has led to the delay in the production of the film according to marvel studios.

The 47 year old actor who plays the role of a billionaire turned superhero in the film injured his ankle while performing a stunt during the filming of Iron Man 3 in Wilmington state of North Carolina. Marvel studio said that there would be a short delay in the production of the film as the popular actor recuperates.

The celebrated actor became an icon in the year 2008 when the first iron man film hit the box office and made $ 583 million. The success of the film followed when the sequel was released two years later and took $ 623 million. The film iron man 3 is expected to hit the box office early next year. The film is set to reunite John Favreau, Don Cheadle, and Gwyneth Paltrow. The actor is expected to reprise his superhero suit for avengers. Meanwhile, marvel studio insists that the production of Iron Man 3 will resume once Downey has recuperated.
