Douglas to be honoured with award for film excellence
September 9th, 2011 - 11:26 am ICT by IANSLondon, Sep 9 (IANS) Actor Michael Douglas will be honoured with Kirk Douglas Award for Excellence in Film.
The Kirk Douglas Award for Excellence in Film serves as a fundraiser for the 27th edition of Santa Barbara International Film Festival which will start Jan 26 2012.
Douglas, 66, will receive the award, which is named after his movie legend father Kirk, at a gala dinner in California Oct 11 this year.
“The first time I saw Michael Douglas act was in a play at UC (University Of California) Santa Barbara, so it is fitting that a career that started here should be honoured here,” dailystar.co.uk quoted Kirk as saying.
“I am very happy to give this award to my favourite actor-producer who also happens to be my first-born son,” he added.
