donVancouver, Feb 13, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics in Vancouver was being touted as the most expensive one on the history of the Winter Olympics, and only the second most in the entire Olympics history. A look at the stage and the performances featured in the ceremony was enough to understand why. Besides featuring some of the biggest names from the Canadian musical scenario, the ceremony also featured a spectacular recreation of the history and culture of the country, complete with the diversity of culture and geography. The tale of the country was told in the voice of actor Donald Sutherland.

The performance of the Canadian character actor brought marvelously to life the story of the country. The performance began with dance shows from the entire world, something that was being considered to be a fitting prelude to the show, since Canada is a country of varied culture and ethnicity. As Donald Sutherland began to narrate the story of the country, the stage was taken by a tap dancer before. Soon, he was joined by a troupe, who danced to the song “Devil In The Kitchen.”

The most spectacular part of Donald Sutherland’s narration was the background. As he voiced the tale, the stage was transformed into a display of technological wonder, with the Rockies forming, and snowboarders and skiers appearing out of thin air to tackle the icy slopes. The electrical storm on the stage quickly became a blizzard. However, the most beautiful moment of the whole show was when a dancer seemingly rose into the air towards the end of his performance, and continued dancing mid air, gracefully, to the song “Both Sides Now.”
