The CBS News Producer Don Hewitt, founder of the series “60 Minutes” died on Wednesday at the age of 86. Some say that his program was a platform for Democrats to propagate their agenda. Be it Bill Clinton giving commentary on his controversial affair or Obama regime vouching for American interest, “60 Minutes” was the program used.
Steve Kroft, Morley Safer and Lesley Stahl, eminent correspondents of news magazine will give a tribute to Hewitt and talk of ” lasting contributions to the television news industry.” Jeff Fager, the executive producer of ‘60 minutes’ is going to produce ‘Remembering Don Hewitt’ to commemorate the man. He said, “Hewitt will always have an impact on this broadcast - there’s a part of him in every one of us, and it affects every decision we make.”
Hewitt believed that (Steve) Forbes Ads should have been banned entirely and once said in that regard “I contend that political commercials are just that–obscenities– and could be banned for that reason alone.” Hewitt was known for adding style and class on his show. He added soul to it. He was a man who encouraged and invoked his audience to think. Some of his followers say that he could not impede interlopers like a rival and prominent news channel who gluttonously manufactured stories mechanically bereft of any journalistic integrity.
Hewitt would recall Morley Safer’s 1983 report on Lenell Geter as the best hour portrayed on ‘60 Minutes’ but in the year 1995 Hewitt could not resist CBS management’s motive to shelve the Mike Wallace interview with Jeffery Wigand of Brown And Williamson Tobacco Corp. who wanted to come forward in media, to incriminate charges against the former employer in regard to the injurious nature of its products.
