Dominican merengue veterans get ready to release new album
July 28th, 2011 - 11:55 am ICT by IANSNew York, July 28 (IANS/EFE) Dominican merengue veterans Los Hermanos Rosario are preparing their latest musical project complete with the innovative concepts and sounds that have kept them popular for three decades.
The new album will also include surprises for their fans, above all for the generation of young people who like them since they have guaranteed that they will include two performers from the urban musical genre as invited guests.
The road to success for Los Hermanos Rosario hasn’t been easy, but they said in an interview with EFE that they are pleased at the support the public has given to the group, as well as to the merengue their country has exported to the world.
“It hasn’t been easy to stay (in the public’s good graces). You have to live every day thinking about your career. It’s not ‘earn your fame and go to sleep’ but rather earn your fame and keep it because there’s not a single day we aren’t working on this project,” said Rafa Rosario, the group’s lead singer.
“There are always new things to do, so that the new generations get to know Los Rosario, and so that those who were raised with our music feel proud of us,” he said.
The brothers also said that remaining onstage for three decades has been the group’s biggest challenge, and along the way they have reaped an assortment of important awards and released a number of hits, including “Alo”, “La sigo amando”, “Ya me libere” and “La morena”.
“Since we first went onstage, people liked us because we brought a different rhythm from what there was at the time. There are people who fell in love with our music; they’ve had children and grandchildren who follow us,” he said.
