Dolly Parton is Not a Lesbian

Dolly Parton Dolly Parton may have been a gay icon but she is not a lesbian, she says. In 2005, she invited caustic comments when she joined Mandy Moore, the Dixie Chicks, Yoko Ono, Christina Aguilera, Emmylou Harris, Pink and Carole King in releasing an album “Love Rocks” to raise funds for the Gay and Lesbian advocates of the Human Rights Campaign.

In 2006 she had said, “Having a big gay following, I get hate mail and threats. Some people are blind or ignorant, and you can’t be that prejudiced and hateful and go through this world and still be happy. It’s all right to be who you are.”

Now again there are fresh rumors that Dolly Parton is a lesbian and has a relationship with her personal assistant and friend Judy Ogle. Parton and Ogle have been friends from the third grade and are seen together everywhere the country diva goes. But the reason for this might be that her husband of 42 years, Carl Dean, is now retired and prefers staying away from the media that follows Dolly around.

In an interview last month Dolly Parton attempted to shed some light on the rumor and said, “I am not gay. I have been accused of that. But I have been happily married for 42 years to the same man. And he’s not the least bit, you know, threatened by the fact that I may be gay.” About her relationship with Judy Ogle, Dolly stated, ““We’re absolutely, totally honest, open, and comfortable with each other…. We’ve been accused of being lovers. We do love each other, but we’ve never been like that.”
