London, June 13 (IANS) British rocker Pete Doherty missed a New York performance with singer Sean Lennon after US customs officers refused to let him enter the country.
Doherty was denied entry when he arrived at the John F. Kennedy International Airport Thursday and was told to go home, reports gossipblender.com. Lennon, who went on with his planned show, told fans that Doherty was met by airport police upon landing in New York.
Doherty was scheduled to perform with Lennon at a Milk Studios’ magazine launch party in Manhattan.
According to sources, Doherty was detained for eight hours at the airport before he was put on a plane bound for London. The musician has been unable to obtain US work visas in recent years due to past drug arrests in Europe though it still isn’t clear why was he denied entry into the US this time.
