Documentary “Passing Strange” Premieres On PBS

Jan 14, (THAINDIAN NEWS) “Passing Strange”, the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical’s film version premiered on ‘Great Performances’ on PBS on Wednesday night and it turned out to be a hugely entertaining experience for all the viewers. The documentary which has been created by Academy Award nominee Spike Lee, showcases the final two performances of the Broadway musical which was held at the Belasco Theatre in the month of July 2008.
In a statement that has been released by Spike Lee, the Oscar nominee has emphasized that the major highlights that make the musical absolutely unforgettable are its pure rock elements, its basic soul as well as amazing star cast. Moreover, the film director also added that the musical turns out to be outstanding due to its elements of music, energy and mayhem.
The Broadway musical was created by Stew and Heidi Rodewald and the final performances were captured by Spike Lee before the Broadway run of the musical was closed down.
The musical captures the story of a young black musician as he embarks on a journey of self discovery. The story showcases the ups and downs in the life of the protagonist as he leaves behind his past and goes all the way to Europe to discover his artistic as well as personal self. The documentary was showcased at the 25th annual Sundance Film Festival and the 2009 Tribeca Film Festival, where it received huge appreciation.
The much anticipated documentary received wide viewership by the audiences during its premiere on Wednesday night. The enchanting story with its interesting turn of events surely managed to win the hearts of the audiences who had tuned in to watch the film.

Why is the President going to the oligarchy for advice on what’s best for the working-class majority? He should be talking to labor leaders and academics. Business people just want more free-trade, more privatization, lower labor standards and more tax cuts. They have their own agenda and cannot offer advice that will benefit the masses.
