NEW YORK CITY (BNO NEWS) – Adam Goldstein, better known as DJ AM, was found dead in New York City on Friday afternoon, his publicist told BNO News. He was 36.

Goldstein was found dead inside his New York City apartment at 210 Lafayette Street, but additional details were not immediately available. “The circumstances surrounding his death are unclear,” said Jennifer Weinman, his publicist. “Out of respect for his family and loved ones, please respect their privacy at this time,” she added. According to local media reports, DJ AM may have died from an apparent drug overdose.

Goldstein wrote his last message on Twitter on Tuesday: “New york, new york. Big city of dreams, but everything in new york aint always what it seems.”

Goldstein, and drummer Travis Barker, survived a plane crash in 2008 that killed four others. Shortly after the news of Goldstein’s death broke, Shanna Moakler, Barker’s ex, tweeted: “My deepest condolences for DJ AM, you were a great artist and will be severely missed. My thoughts and prayers to his family and friends.”
