district9-still1If you did not have even witnessed Peter Jackson produced movies like “King Kong” and “Lord Of The Rings” then don’t panic, you can get some more of the magnanimity through his yet another flick,District 9. A sci-fi thriller made by Neill Blomkamp (who was a visual effects animator before starting as filmmaker), the movie is a thorough entertainment.

The creatures in the movie are insectoid aliens, a hybrid of insects and humans, with squirming tendrils protruding from their mouth. The menacing number reaches to create a slum-like civilization until the Multi National United is set on its mission to subjugate the clans in concentration camps tackling with their ammunitions and fancy weaponry without which the movie would not stand.
The handy cam shots and hand-held camerawork grips the emotions and tragedy of the massacre and brutal subjugation on African soil.

The filmmaker himself is a former native of Johannesburg and seems to be inspired by the apartheid-inflicted racial discrimination that prevailed in this region.

Teri Tachell has co-written with the filmmaker and the film evokes heroism, passion and natural sympathy for the aliens whose eyes are never bereft of human emotions.

The movie is produced on a $30 million budget and has some heart wrenching special effects that has wowed the viewers. Wikus Van De Merwe is the demoralized yet sympathetic MNU agent who will put an end to the 20 years of alien upsurge on the planet. The filmmaker is very precise about getting the right picture of flying aircrafts cascading in the sky within the limits of the budget.
