district9posterThe sci-fi thriller flick “District 9″ is still doing rounds in the cinema halls and the buzz is that the sequel of the Neill Blomkamp directed sci-fi flick is on the cards. Though the rumor mills are at a higher stake, there has been no such declaration from the makers of the film regarding a possible sequel.

“District 9″, a movie based on extra terrestrials who unlikely behave more or less like humans, opened with a whopping $14.2 million in cinema halls. The sci-fi flick which is itself been created with a budget of $30 million has already been declared as a favorite among the audience. The movie which ends with a lot of questions unanswered draws a possibility of a sequel (unless it it is the director’s flaw of having such loose endings). Moreover, while speaking about a possible sequel, the director of the movie Neill Blomkamp said, “If the audience wanted another film, yeah, it would be super-cool to go into the back story of the aliens.” When asked about the whether he has already chalked out plans for the sequel the director said, “Not really. It’s been two and a half years solid making this film. Now I’m caught at the end of it, I have been caught a little unaware about what I want to do next. I know I’d love to go back to the world of District 9, though, if the audience wants another film.”

The aforementioned comments to raise the stake a bit higher regarding a possible sequel of the film. No wonder the audience would love to taste the other half of the sci-flick which has already enthralled a large number of movie buffs.
