Disney to distribute ‘Avengers’ and ‘Iron Man 3′

disney Los Angeles, Oct 20 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Paramount Pictures has agreed to a deal with Walt Disney Studios to transfer the rights of worldwide sale of Paramount’s “The Avengers” and “Iron Man 3”.

The deal which is worth $115 million will not include rights to other Paramount works like “Thor” and “Captain America: The First Avenger”. Paramount will also retain the rights of the previous Iron Man movies.

Disney will pay the agreed sum on the theatrical release dates of the two movies.

The Chairman of the Walt Disney Studios, Rich Ross, said “We appreciate the tremendous momentum that Paramount established with these iconic Marvel characters and look forward to propelling the brand even further in the coming years.”

Paramount Pictures Chairman and CEO, Brad Grey also said “We are grateful for the partnership we have had with the terrific Marvel team over these years and proud of the work we have done together. Today, this new agreement is the right deal for Paramount, for Marvel and for Disney. We look forward to working together on ‘Thor’ and ‘Captain America,’ and we wish Disney and Marvel the utmost success, in what we know will be a very productive and wide-ranging partnership.”

Disney has announced a May 3, 2013 release for the third movie in the Iron Man sequel.
