Disney exploring Hindu mythological superheroes
September 15th, 2009 - 5:24 am ICT by Sampurn WireDisney held talks with India’s Vimanika Comics to explore the possibility of bringing Hindu mythological superheroes to film and television, according to reports.
It reportedly includes the possibility of seeing Karna brought to life on screen. Karna was the son of Kunti and sun god Surya and was equipped with celestial arms and armor and had great strength and commanding presence.
Vimanika is a comics company headquartered in Mumbai, which focuses on Indian mythology, and its founder director is Karan Vir Arora. Vimanika reportedly plans to launch graphic versions of Dashaavatar, Legend of Karna, Lord Shiva, and Lord Garuda; and is looking to convert comics to online/mobile games. Its other titles include “Moksha”. Its tagline is “Bringing you Myth like no Other”
