Discovery To Launch 3D Channel In 2011

image_1Jan 7, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Before the 3D fanatics could savor the news of ESPN launching a 3D sports channel in the coming days, Discovery Networks has announced of another dedicated 3D network. It has joined hands with two major media and entertainment entities namely IMAX Corporation and Sony Corporation. The upcoming channel will broadcast a range of high quality 3D content. However, the viewers will have to wait till 2011 for watching the programs shown in this channel. USA will be the first country to avail this network. The announcement came ahead of the CES 2010, where 3D HDTVs are hogging the limelight.

According to the available news, the channel will show nature programs, movies and other types of programs. John Hendricks, the chairman and Founder of discovery said in a statement that the network is known for delivering outstanding content to the viewers by means of state of the art technology. Discovery introduced first digital channels way back in 1996 and started HD content delivery in 2002. In 2010 the channel will celebrate its quarter centenary anniversary and the new 3D channel will be the best way to celebrate the occasion. The new channel will motivate a lot of users to buy the 3D HDTVs that will be launched in 2010.

The appeal of 3D has already mesmerized the movie buffs. The magnum opus of James Cameron named “Avatar” wooed the viewers worldwide with its 3D version. The TV channel networks think that 3D will captivate the small screen viewers alike. However, the initial cost of 3D Enabled TVs and services will be on the higher side.
