shark_week‘Jaws’ is back! This time round, the Discovery Channel’s 22nd shark week promises to live up to it’s legacy of beast-feast fright-nights, with the baited viewers being reeled in to witness these toothy predators of the deep, with blood-curdling proximity, from front-view seats in their own homes.

The monster extravaganza spaced out over an entire week, kicked off yesterday, with the pilot episode ‘Blood in the water’ centered on the horrific 1916 shark attacks which inspired Peter Benchely’s ‘Jaws’ and eventually got made into the 1975 silver screen classic adaptation, that needless to add, became a phenomenon in itself, with it’s runaway success.

Lined up next, there’s lot more in store for fans of gore, all the way through, with every weeknight promising to deliver it’s share of chilling thrills. ‘Deadly Waters’ follows “survivor-man” Les Stroud, as he travels to spots that have the dubious distinction of being high on the shark-attack related fatality rating. ‘Day of the Shark 2′ showcases terror tales of these monstrous predators, including the story of the former Navy SEAL who was attacked off the Florida coast.

‘Shark Bite Summer’ scheduled to air on Tuesday, relives the horrific 2001 summer aka the “Summer of the Shark”, the infamous stretch in which more than 50 reported shark attacks occurred along beaches all over America. Wednesday’s ‘Great White Appetite’ with it’s self-explanatory title, attempts to unravel the mystery of the behavioral pattern behind the feeding frenzy typically characteristic of these fierce predators. Finally, ‘Shark after dark’ explores the after-dark predacious haunts of great whites, six gills and tiger sharks.
