Dine, lie back and watch a film at Big Cinemas’ Megaplex (With Images)
September 18th, 2009 - 11:16 pm ICT by IANSMumbai, Sep 18 (IANS) Ever thought of watching a movie on the big screen while dining in style or just lying back on an ultra comfortable 180-degree recliner? Well, Big Cinemas launched its nine-screen Megaplex here Friday that offers all this luxury and more.
Boasting of two premium audis - the Cinediner and 180 Degrees and seven regular audis, the Megaplex of Big Cinemas, a subsidiary of the Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (R-ADAG), has a seating capacity of 2,109.
Spread across a 75,000 sq ft area at the R-City Mall in Ghatkopar here, Megaplex is complete with a kids play area and a lounge as well.
“Considering the evolving customer preferences today, this new Big Cinemas property has been designed and developed to become a one-stop entertainment solution that not just provides an enhanced movie-going experience but also a fine dining option for both individuals and families,” Anil Arjun, CEO, Adlabs Films Ltd, told IANS.
The Megaplex also launched two new design concepts for the first time in India with Cinediner and Mischief.
While the former combines the experience of being able to dine while enjoying a movie inside an auditorium, Mischief is a fun activity lounge designed to entertain kids while their parents catch a film.
Designed for group lounging, Cinediner offers a range of two, four and six-seater sofas with tables and call-buttons, which link the audience to personalised service.
Mischief, on the other hand, lets children explore, play, read and watch. It has five distinct lounges - ‘couch potato’, ‘bounce’, ‘bookworm’, ‘battleship’ and ‘joystick’ to cater to the different entertainment preferences of children between the age of two to eight under professional supervision.
The Megaplex also houses amenities like a restaurant with a lounge seating area, coffee shop, book store, while 180 degrees, named after the sofas that recline to a 180 degree angle, is a 48-seater auditorium.
A ticket at 180 degrees and Cinediner cost Rs.500 per head. While the price includes only the recliners at 180 degrees, the Cinediner fare includes Rs.200 for the movie and Rs.300 as cover charge for food and beverages.
Mischief is priced at Rs.50 for 45 minutes per child. Tickets at the seven regular audis vary from Rs.100 to Rs.250 depending on the show timings and the day.
Big Cinemas is a division of Adlabs Films Ltd (soon to be renamed Reliance MediaWorks Ltd) and has a global footprint of 459 screens spread across India (213 screens across 66 cities), the US, Malaysia and the Netherlands.
It also has a dominant presence in film services like motion picture processing, visual effects, film restoration and image enhancement in addition to having digital mastering studios and equipment rentals with facilities located in the US and India.
