More questions about pop icon Michael Jackson’s death has resurfaced, as a nurse came forward to say that the singer had asked for powerful sedatives, reportedly in the month of April. Cherilyn Lee, a high profile nurse working for a Los Angeles based nutritional counseling business told CNN that Michael had complained of having frequent phases of insomnia. The singer asked or rather pleaded to get him some Diprivan (propofol), a drug used for maintaining anesthesia during surgeries. Reports say that Cherilyn had warned the singer about the dangers of the mentioned drug.
Just four days before the pop sensation’s demise, Cherilyn said that she had received a call from a Jackson staffer. The caller had told her that Michael was complaining of irregular metabolism in his body. The pop star franticallysaidthat one part of his body was hot and the other part was cold. This made Cherilyn feel that Jackson might have been sedated with Diprivan with the intention of getting sleep.
An injection of Diprivan can stimulate hypnosis within 40 seconds from the time of injection, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The product label suggests that the drug can be quite harmful and may hold a key factor to ones death if consumed in large proportions. The product label also states that the drug should only be administered by people who are trained in the administration of general anesthesia. The drug, which is actually used to maintain anesthesia during surgeries, tests et al. is strictly a ‘no no’ if someone is prone to allergies.

The real problem is that drugs such as this, or opioids for which he apparently was addicted, slew breathing rate to unsistainable levels, or relax the body sufficiently to create a blocked airway with the tongue. More people perish unintentionally from these causes (i.e. unintentional death from prescription opioid overdose) than die from motor vehicle crashes, since 2004 (Source: the center for disease control)
