Dick Clark Honored At Daytime Emmys 2010

clipboard013June 28, (THAINDIAN NEWS) It was an all emotional moment at the Daytime Emmys 2010, when the stars paid a fitting tribute to the legendary host of “American Bandstand”, Dick Clark. Paying tribute to one of the most sought after television series, Tony Orlando, Chubby Checker and Marie Osmond performed the evergreen hits that were once played at the show that Dick Clark hosted from 1957-1989.

It was Ryan Seacrest who gave a heart-felt introduction speech addressed and soon after several stars followed to pay tribute to one of the most ’sought’ after host of television series. The tribute included several video messages, a roll back video clips from the series and performances by several stars which also witnessed acts by the “Jersey Boys”. The much cherished performance by the “Jersey Boys” included their take on “American Bandstand” theme song “Bandstand Boogie”. The tribute was such an overwhelming one with a tad emotional touch, it even brought Dick Clark himself to tears. Dick Clark whilst controlling his emotions went up to the stage to give a short speech, thanking everyone who supported and stood by him all these years.

The ‘never-ending’ tribute to Dick Clark and his show “American Bandstand” also witnessed several video messages by Garth Brooks, Simon Cowell, Cher and Barry Manilow himself as the audience listened in silence. The tribute although was stretched a bit than one would expect but still considering the relevance of “American Bandstand” and the impression it has in today’s musical television series, the experience was worth it. The former “American Idol” judge Simon Cowell said, “Without Bandstand, without Dick, there would be no ‘American Idol.”
