Diane Sawyer bids goodbye to ‘GMA’December 12th, 2009 - 2:19 am ICT by Aishwarya Bhatt
New York, Dec 11 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The charismatic co-host of Good Morning America (GMA) Diane Sawyer bid goodbye to the show after years of diligently hosting the show.
“And for one more time, Good Morning America,” Sawyer said as she began Friday morning’s show. “This morning I am beaming at all of you. My heart is smiling, and the privilege of sharing my mornings with all of you has been more than I can say.”
She spoke emotionally about her biggest story on the show, which was meeting the children born after their fathers were killed in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. The whole 2 hours of the show was nostalgic to say the least, with best-seller video clips, celebrity goodbyes and tearful hugs.
The GMA co-anchor Diane Sawyer announced that she would now move on to World News Tonight as its new anchor starting Monday, Dec. 21. George Stephanopoulos and Juju Chang will join the morning news program to replace Sawyer and Chris Cuomo, who also will be leaving the morning news program for 20/20.
The newsreader for GMA Chris Cuomo is also quitting the show. His last day on the show ‘Good Morning America’ will be Friday, which is the same day as co-host Diane Sawyer, who is all set to replace the retiring Charles Gibson on “World News.”
