Jan 21, (THAINDIAN NEWS) All the ardent Aamir Khan fans have something to look forward to this weekend when the directorial venture of Kiran Rao “Dhobi Ghat” releases in theaters across the nation on Friday. The promos of the flick that were doing the rounds for some time now made sure that the attention of the movie-goers is seized and in turn it results in more footfalls in the theaters. Despite the fact that Aamir Khan plays just one of the protagonists and the movie is not entirely based on his role, the mere association of the ace actor with any project ensures that movie-goers do not give it a miss.

The promos of “Dhobi Ghat” itself endorse the fact that the 95-minute film is just not another run-of-the-mill Bollywood venture despite the fact that it is based on the different hues of Mumbai, which is quite a favorite subject among movie makers. The main storyline of the flick talks about the intertwining relationships between the four main characters played by Aamir Khan, Prateik Babbar, Kriti Malhotra and Monica Dogra. Although many critics reiterate that despite edging a small role, Aamir Khan completely stole the show, the performances of newcomer Prateik Babbar as well as the rest of the leading ladies has also been appreciated.

However, it is Kiran Rao’s subtle directing skills that is receiving the maximum accolades among the critics. While talking about the director’s debut venture, film critic Taran Adarsh added that “Dhobi Ghat” has been successful in capturing the actual essence of Mumbai while describing Kiran Rao’s script as ‘intensely intelligent’.
