New York, Dec 28 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A 31 year old Indiana man Devar Hurd is convicted of harassing Ashanti, her mother and her sister. He was accused of sending more than 2-dozen sexually explicit text messages about Ashanti and her sister to their mother, Tina Douglas, the New York Post said. However Devar Hurd could have had an easy way out, but he declined to accept a plea deal that would have put him in prison for over a year.

Devar Hurd told the jurors at his New York City trial on Friday he was just “sex texting” and joking when he sent lewd remarks, graphic photos and a picture of the family home. As a consequence he is charged with stalking and harassment. He could be looking at over 2 years in jail, since he denied the plea deal and refused the 1-year sentence.

Tina Douglas received many graphic images as messages and she was extremely afraid by the disgusting nature of the photos and text messages sent to her. Moreover, she emphasized that the accused continued to send her the offensive messages and pictures, which showed off his genitals, although she asked him not to do so, many times.

However the attorney for Devar - Richard Berchick, defended his client thoroughly by claiming that Devar Hurd had no intention to harass anybody and emphasized that the his client only wished to be loved by the much acclaimed singer.
