ice-house-detroitFeb 6, (THAINDIAN NEWS) An abandoned house in Detroit has been encased in ice in a bid to draw attention to the looming housing crisis of the USA. The job has been done by a photographer and an architect based in New York. The duo, Gregory Holm and Matthew Radune picked a house that was slated to be demolished. They took up the project as a challenge that should inspire others. The house has been covered with icicles and looks nice in sunlight. Detroit is one of the places that is reeling under home foreclosure problems.

The creators of the icy design feel that the house looks stunning and it also offers a change for the neighbors. They took great pains to implement their plans as they said later. They had to work in freezing cold for hours in order to cover the house with ice, without compromising on the visual aspect of the design. It took them weeks to complete the design. They took the house for the project and in return paid the taxes on another house which ensured a woman could move in. The house has turned into a work of art but as one can understand, it cannot be maintained for long. In fact the house will be demolished in a few months.

The artists have further plans with the ice covered house. They now want to make a film on it. Some of the residents have praised their effort. The success of the artists once again proves that man can achieve near impossible feats with effort and will power.
