mic June 21, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): It has been a year, since the ‘King of Pop’ Michael Jackson took his last breath before going for the London Concerts.

Millions of hearts cried out in pain and the mystery of his death remained in dark. A recent disclosure has offered details of his routine just 24 hours before his death.

On June 24, Michael walked down the stairs of his rented mansion to have lunch with his kids. They sat together to have their last meal together.

Chef Kai Chase said, “With a smile on the face he put together his hands for a prayer. Then he said, Thank you and God bless you.” As per Chase, the pop star looked well, energized and in a good mood.

Jackson entered the back of his Escalade shortly before 7 pm. His bodyguard Faheen Muhammad was driving the vehicle with his personal assistant, Michael Amir Williams sitting in the front. They reached the Staples Center. Jackson was there for the final rehearsal before going for London concerts.

Dorian Holley, the longtime vocal director of Jackson, who was also a singer for the upcoming shows, informed, “He was in high spirit and his energy as well as physicality seemed like his earlier days.”

Jackson and his dancers performed ‘Thriller’ on stage later on that night. They wore the full costume for the show for the first time. Kriyss Grant, one of the dancers, said, “His face showed that he loved it.”

His bodyguard Faheen saw the car of Dr. Conrad Murray parked outside the home when they returned from the rehearsal. The security staff of the singer accompanied him till the foot of the stairs. Except the children and the doctor, no one was allowed upstairs.

Jackson started complaining fatigue as soon as he reached home. According to police affidavit, the doctor was worried about the singer’s addiction to a powerful anesthetic ‘propofol’. The doctor informed the police that he attempted to withdraw the drug and so he did not give it for two nights.

By 1.30 am on June 25, he repeated the approach and gave Jackson a 10-milligram Valium tablet. The anti-anxiety tablets showed no immediate effect. Later, the doctor went for 2 milligrams of lorazepam after about half an hour. He administered this medication from the same family as Valium through a saline drip.

But Jackson did not sleep and Murray had to administer another sedative, a 2 milligram dose of midazolam at 3 a.m. following another 2 milligrams of lorazepam at 5 a.m. But he continued to stay wide awake still 7.30 a.m. Murray informed the police that he had to inject another 2 milligrams of midazolam into Jackson’s drip.

According to Dr Murray, Jackson kept demanding for propofol. The doctor said, he had to surrender before the demands of the singer at around 10: 40 a.m. thus pushing 25 milligrams of the substance into Jackson’s drip.

The affidavit said that Murray was with the singer for about 10 minutes and then went to the bathroom. Murray returned in less than two minutes and discovered that Jackson was not breathing.

Jackson’s logistics director Alberto Alvarez informed the investigators that he entered the bedroom to see the singer lying on a bed. His arms were outstretched and the eyes and mouth were open and Murray was administering CPR with one hand.

Prince and Paris, the kids of Jackson entered the room, crying as they saw the doctor trying to save their father. They were quickly taken away outside.

By 12:27 p.m., the paramedics arrived. Later, they stated that Jackson was not taking breath and had no pulse at 12:29 p.m. Jackson was rushed to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center at 1:07 p.m. The doctors tried to save the singer with several resuscitation techniques. As 2:26 p.m., the ‘king of pop’ was announced dead.
