Rocker Pete Doherty may have moved on after his break-up with Kate Moss but he says he was heartbroken about his rift with his father. In an interview the troubled rocker said that he misses his father, also named Peter, because the older man has refused to talk to his drug-addicted son.

The Babyshambles frontman has had constant encounters with illegal substances and has spent some time in prison in 2008. In 2005 the older Doherty vowed not to speak to his son till he cleaned his act and has kept to the promise. But Pete, said that he is still hopeful that his father will eventually relent. In a revealing interview he said, “I’m coping mostly and I’m mostly clean. I won’t lie to you it is a struggle. My dad and I are estranged. But my mum speaks to me secretly.”

Pete said that according to his father if he was using any illegal substance then he was better off without his father but revealed, “I love the man and I grew up kind of idolizing him.” He lamented that the only reason his father was angry with him was because he had “something despicable” in his blood. Pete says he is aware that drugs are beginning to affect his music too, but he is determined to change that.

Peter and his father had reconciled in 2007 but the spell ended when Pete got back to drugs. His heroin and crack cocaine habits had his mother pen a book on him called Pete Doherty: My Prodigal Son.
