Design Star Season 4 Kickstarts With New Judges And New Rules

HGTV’s reality competition series Design Star, returns for its fourth episode, but with new twists, new judges and new rules. While host Clive Pearse and judge Vern Wip have returned for another season, Cynthia Rowley and Martha McCully, the two judges won’t be seen in this season of Design Star.
Joining Vern at the judges podium are Genevieve Gorder and Candice Olsen (the host and designer of Divine Design).
It seems that not only the show will witness a host of new judges, but there will be also some changes in the rules and regulations of the show, Design Star. Unlike previous season, there won’t be any viewer input. In previous seasons of the show, the ultimate winner, who is awarded to host a show at HGTV, was decided by the viewers. This season the winners will be determined solely by the judges, thus increasing the chances of the most deserving candidate to win.
Ten contestants have been chosen this season to participate in the show which takes place in Los Angeles.
HGTV Design Star is an American Reality competition that airs on the cable TV network HGTV. Each week the contestants have to participate in an interior designing challenge such as designing a living space or creating a space in empty room using unconventional items from a pet store, mechanics store or a discount store. The designers are given a specified amount of time to complete each project, as well as a specified amount of cash in order to create a design to be judged. Each week the judges decide who to eliminate as host Clive Pearse addresses to the eliminated contestant as “Your show has been canceled”.

Dear Devine Design Star program,
I can’t believe the winner you chose for Devine Design Star. The other guy Dan, was SOOOOO much better. True Dan was more conventional. I thought the design redo that Antonio did deserved maybe a 75% (tops) if I was grading—and Dan a 95%. Almost seems like the higher ups at HGTV TOLD you who to pick. “We need someone who is less conservative—on the edge, a bit wacky” I saw the very green bed room Antonio designed—with the LONG WALL—with about 5 small pictures hanging on the wall. Are you kidding me?? That is your winner?? Compare that with the lovely enlarged picture that Dan highlighted for his clients, and HIS entire redo. Truthfully—which home would YOU want to live in?? I’m sure Dan is a winner in his own right, because many folks saw his work, and his potential. I’m just flabergasted that the judges as respectable as they are on their shows—seemed to come from left field on their latest decsion. They sure got it wrong, in my opinion. Thank you for listening!
