Deryck Whibley Attacked In A Japanese Bar Brawl

ber August 8, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): Deryck Whibley, a lead member of the Sum 41 band had been attacked by three unidentified men when he got involved in a bar brawl last Thursday. The entire band had flown to the Far East on the 2nd of August and had been scheduled to make an appearance at the Summersonic Music Festival in Osaka and Tokyo over the weekend.

The incident with Deryck Whibley has now made the appearance of the band uncertain.

Whibley, also known as the ex-husband of Avril Lavigne has been admitted to a local hospital where he is currently being treated for his injuries. The extent of his injuries and his present condition is still unknown.

The news was divulged by a representative of the band and appeared on their Twitter page. It simply stated that Whibley had been injured by three unknown assailants and the Japanese police are looking into the matter. The news appeared in the early hours of 6th August.

He remained in hospital on Friday when the band updated the news on Twitter. They informed their fans that Whibley was still in hospital and they are hoping for the best. “Thanks for your Support,” concluded the band on Twitter.

The Canadian rock band had been facing quite a number of interruptions lately. They had to cut short their Warped Tour of the United States when Whibley was diagnosed with bronchitis said the Hollywood Reporter. The band had to cancel three of their shows in order to give Deryck Whibley’s vocal cords a rest.
