The concert by the Depeche Mode, in Athens Greece, that was scheduled for 12th May had to be canceled, as the lead singer of the band fell ill and had to be rushed to the hospital. According to the reports from the Reuters, the organizer of the concert said, “We regret todays performance has to be canceled”. David Gahan fell ill in his dressing room, while preparing for the audience comprising of more than 20,000 who had gathered at the capital’s Terra Vibe Park, where the concert was to get underway.
As per the reports, the singer was hurriedly rushed to the nearest hospital. However, the more detailed version of the cancellation or the illness of the David Gahan is at present a bit cloudy. The organizers of the concert gave some hints on the cause being “gastroenteritis” and if his conditions improves, Depeche Mode will performing on the 13th.
The new album of the gloomy synth-rockers, “Sounds of the Universe” that came out earlier in the year 2009, does not at all sound like an album of 2009. The focus of the album remains on those synth symphonies of Martin Gore, the lyrics are as usual utterly romantic, which David Gahan delivers in a dramatic way.
Depeche Mode, is in fact currently on a tour to promote this new album and their concerts are all booked through the year 2010. The iconic synth-rockers are scheduled to perform in this year’s Lollapalooze that is going to be held in Chicago latter this year.
