Los Angeles, May 27 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Actor Dennis Quaid has sued ‘Baxter Healthcare Corp’ over an accidental overdose of the blood-thinner Heparin. His newborn twins in 2007 were prescribed 10 units of Hep-Lock, but accidentally they were given 10,000 units of Heparin. They had an infection and so were being administered medicines. However on the contrary their lives were in danger because of the mix-up. The mix-up had happened because there were very similar labels on the medicines.

And this is not the first time that the actor has sued the company. He had filed another lawsuit in Illinois as well, but that was dismissed. After being dismissed, however it was upheld twice on appeal. In the latest lawsuit, Dennis wants unspecified damages, and Dennis filed this lawsuit on behalf of his children.

Baxter said in their defense that there was an investigation by the hospital and the Californian health officials and it was determined that the mix-up was because of human error. The person who had administered the incorrect dosage had not read the label properly. “We feel that working together to address this issue would be more productive than continuing to litigate this matter in the courts,” according to spokeswoman Erin Gardner.
