Dennis Hopper rushed to hospital with flu-like symptoms

Dennis Hopper New York, Sep 30 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The seventy-three old Oscar nominated actor Dennis Hopper has been taken to a New York hospital after developing flu-like symptoms, according to his publicist Sheila Feren.

According to a report from Entertainment Tonight, he had an oxygen mask on his face and had “numerous tubes visible” at the time of his hospital admission.

More details about his medical condition are still awaited.

Dennis was in New York to promote his current TV series ‘Crash’ when he was suddenly taken ill, thus forcing his publicist to cancel a number of interviews and appearances. He had to cancel his TV appearance on the show “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon,” where Jack McBrayer of “30 Rock” then eventually replaced him.

Hopper was educated at Wooster School, Danbury, Connecticut and at the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego, California. He then studied at the Actors Studio in New York City (studied with Lee Strasberg for five years).

He has directed and starred in his best known movie Easy Rider in 1969, winning an award at the Cannes Film Festival and was also nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay as co-writer of the film’s script.

Then he subsequently appeared in Rumble Fish and The Osterman Weekend, and received critical mention for his work in Blue Velvet and Hoosiers, with the latter film garnering him the prestigious Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor. He also directed another movie Colors (1988) and he also portrayed Bowser in the film version of Super Mario Bros. and in 1994 was cast as the dreaded villain in Speed.

The Kansas born, Dennis has been married a record 5 times and have 4 children.
