Los Angeles, Jan 5 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Singer Demi Lovato says staying sober is “sexy.” The singer endured a difficult period in 2011 and will be very happy that the year has ended. With 2012 here, Lovato says she is hoping that the period will present her with the opportunity to become a better person.

In an interview which has been published in the February edition of the magazine Seventeen, Lovato said that, “I think sober is sexy. It’s cool. I think it’s way cooler to be above the influence than under the influence… I’m not gonna lie. I was self-medicating. I was doing things like drinking and using [drugs], like a lot of teens do to numb their pain.”

Lovato’s crisis reached all time high when she fought with one of her background dancers during a tour. She eventually checked into a rehab facility where she sought help. In all the challenges that she went through, Lovato says she Selena Gomez and Miley Cyrus proved to be strong pillars in her life.

After the rehab, Lovato says she has stayed away from drugs and alcohol and is excited that she can keep the habit off. She called the decision to enter the rehab “an intervention.”
