DegrassiNew York, July 20, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The students of “Degrassi” High are back with a bang in their summer vacation. Reportedly, the tenth season of the show was aired on Monday and shall continue to air all its new episodes up till Thursday. Moving ahead, the show makers are all set to air a special marathon screening that shall have glimpses from all four episodes.

“Teen Nick” came up with the idea of a soap opera format for the teen-age drama which gained immense popularity in the eighth and the ninth season. They felt that such a format or a style shall allow the viewers to relate with the characters of the drama and spend more time with them. Marjorie Cohn who happens to be the President of Nickelodeon said that the idea is “wonderful” and all “Degrassi” fans shall go “crazy” about it. Owing to the popularity rating of the show, the total number of episodes to be aired was increased. When the cast members were informed of it, they weren’t sure about it at the first instant. However, when they were informed that the quality of the program wouldn’t be altered at any cost, they got the urge to go for it said the Nickelodeon President to the media.

The extra time has a great perk which is nothing other than liberty. The half an hour slot was a little too short for the teenage drama as it involved major conflicts. Moreover the significant events in the drama had to be analyzed from the viewpoint of each and every character which was seemingly a hard thing to achieve within half an hour. “Degrassi” creator and executive producer Linda Schuyler called the new setup to be extremely “liberating” for her creative team. In her opinion, it was an unique chance for the makers of the show to delve deep into their own creation.
