Los Angeles, Mar 11, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The list of Hollywood actors falling prey to drug addiction and finally succumbing to death, is getting longer with time. After stalwarts like Heath Ledger and pop star Michael Jackson, who died untimely leaving behind thousands of shocked fans and admirers, actor Corey Haim has passed away owing to suspected drug overdose. He rose to fame in the 1980s when he made his debut as a teen star. The actor succumbed to death on Wednesday morning when he was at the apartment of his mother. He died at the shockingly young age of 38.

He became famous after the release of the movie ‘The Lost Boys’ in 1987. It brought him international fame and there was no looking back for him. Later, he also drew applause from the viewers and critics for his sterling act in films like ‘The two Coreys’ and ‘License To Drive’. He battled with his drug addiction problem for years and said recently that he was trying to get rid of it. However, his efforts proved to be futile. The police have started the investigation.

Reportedly, when he tried to get out of his bed, he started feeling very weak and collapsed on the floor. His mother got alarmed and called the paramedics but the efforts to bring him back to life did not succeed. As soon as the news of his death was published on the web, the film fraternity expressed shock and condolence over his demise. The fans of the star also expressed their grief on social networking sites. The funeral is going to take place soon.
