‘Deadliest Catch’ Captain Phil Harris Passes Away

cor1Feb 11, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Phil Harris, the captain of the fishing boat Cornelia Marie, which is showcased on Discovery Channel’s reality series “Deadliest Catch” passed away on Tuesday. The much loved Cornelia Marie captain, who breathed his last at an Anchorage medical facility, was 53 at the time of his death.

Phil Harris was admitted to the hospital after he suffered a massive stroke while aboard Cornelia Marie late last month in the port on St. Paul Island, Alaska as he was offloading snow crabs. Soon after being admitted to the hospital, Phil Harris underwent a surgery and was recuperating well until his condition deteriorated all of a sudden leading to his unfortunate demise. “Deadliest Catch,” which is among the most popular reality series on Discovery Channel was shooting its new season when the captain of the crab fishing boat suddenly fell ill. A Discovery Channel spokesperson has revealed that filming of more than half of the new season was complete when tragedy struck. At the same time, details about how the death of the Cornelia Marie captain would be taken care of in the new season has not been made available as yet.

Although the untimely demise of Phil Harris is something that has come as a rude shock to all his fans, they surely have something to look forward to as the Cornelia Marie captain would be seen in the new season of the reality series when it premieres later in the month of April. “Deadliest Catch” has gradually gained immense popularity among the viewers as it tracks the crab fishing industry in the Bering Sea between Alaska and Russia.
