New Delhi, Nov 27 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Priyandarshan directed ‘De Dana Dan’ was released today. It had the usual Priyandarshan team comprising of the actors like Akshay Khanna, Suneil Shetty, Paresh Rawal, Asrani, Manoj Joshi, Rajpal Yadav and Neha Dhupia. This time the cast also included the reigning Bollywood hit queen Katrina Kaif, Archana Puran Singh, Chunky Pandey amongst others. It is a complete laugh riot from the first scene. The musical score is by Pritam. Mainly Ganesh Acharya does beautiful choreography in this movie.
Archana Puran Singh plays a high profile businesswoman in Singapore who owns numerous properties. She is madly in love with her cute dog. Akshay Kuman is her Man Friday, who does all her work in order to pay off the loans taken by his father. She is an absolute tyrant who has made his life a living hell. The only solace in his life is his girlfriend Katrina Kaif, who is rich too. Akshay’s buddy is Suneil Shetty, who is another poor soul trying to make it big so that he can marry his very rich girlfriend Sameera Reddy.
Paresh Rawal is at his ultimate best, as the father of Chunky Pandey, whom he is trying to marry off with a huge dowry, so that he can pay the mounting debts. First he fixes Chunky’s match with Katrina and then later with Sameera as her father is richer. The wedding is supposed to take place in a top-notch hotel, and both the families’ head there for all the functions. Meanwhile Akshay and Suneil are fed up at their girl-friend’s thoughts of marriage and all, and they want to strike it rich quick. So they kidnap Archana Puran Singh’s beloved dog, but the dog escapes midway and confusion starts when everybody starts thinking that instead Akshay has been kidnapped. They heed to the same hotel where the wedding is taking place, to cool their heels.
The hotel is where the whole cast is based, and there is ample confusion that sometimes the viewer is strained to think about the various interconnections that take place. All the funny situations in the movie are well linked and quiet sarcastic too, at times. But perhaps we could have done without a couple of the interconnections and the confusing situations in the movie.
It is definitely worth a one-time see, the laughter situations are funny enough, not just run-of-the-mill stuff. Songs are just artificially added in between and look totally out-of-the-place. The editing could be sharper, as the climax just stretched and then some. Perhaps if the movie was shorter by 20-30 minutes then the movie would have been much more crisper. However being a typical Priyandarshan comedy, it definitely doesn’t disappoint at all.
