May 13 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Nominations for the Daytime Emmy Awards were release yesterday, for the upcoming 37th annual event. Bonnie Hunt is up for Outstanding Talk Show Host, although her show has been canceled, along with Rachael Ray, Dr. Oz, Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa, and The View hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Sherri Shepherd and Barbara Walters.

Nominated for Outstanding Talk Show-Entertainment were Rachel Ray, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, ans Live With Regis and Kelly. The nominees for Outstanding Talk Show-Informative included Dr. Phil, The Dr. Oz Show, and The Doctors. General Hospital leads the Soap Opera category. The Daytime Emmys will be broadcast live from the Las Vegas Hilton on June 27 (9-11PM live ET/delayed PT) on CBS. A complete list can be found here .

Ellen has the chance to win it’s fifth Emmy as Daytime Talk Show. “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” won four years in a row, from 2004 to 2007, but has been beaten for the past two years by Rachel Ray. Ellen also had the chance to win in the talk show host category, but she took herself out of the running. The real reason is unclear, since Ellen’s explanation was, “I didn’t submit myself for the ‘Best Talk Show Host’ Emmy this year, I feel my steroid use gives me an unfair advantage.”
