Washington, December 24 (ANI): The Phoenix Police Department has received 100,000 dollars from Hollywood actor David Spade, which it will use to buy high-powered rifles to defend the city from the growing influence of Mexican drug cartels.
“These guys need to be able to do their jobs, and I am just happy I could help,” Fox News quoted Spade as saying through his publicist.
According to the police, Spade decided to donate for their rifle program after he came to know that officers, outgunned and desperate for more firepower, wanted to buy their own semi-automatic rifles.
Mr. Spade has stepped forward and has given a gift to our officers of increased safety. I am thrilled that we were able to accept that money that will hopefully bring us to 300 rifles on the street,” said Police Chief Jack Harris.
Phoenix Police Sgt. Alan Hill revealed that 50 AR-15 rifles would be purchased for patrol officers with the money donated by Spade.
This is not the first time that Spade has helped out cops with money, for he had donated 25,000 dollars to the family of a fallen Phoenix police officer last year. (ANI)
